New England Colonies

I have finally arrived in the New England Colonies. I just moved into my house which is located in Connecticut. Living here is so different from England.  You are probably wondering why I picked up and moved. Well there are many reasons such as economic opportunity, freedom of religion and an abundance of new land.

It is absolutely beautiful here.  We are west of the Appalachian Mountains and have lots of bays and harbors around us. My husband John just got a job as a fisherman. He spends a lot of time out on the river.  I spend most of my day tending to the house and taking care of the children. The children are extremely focused on their studies. They have been going to school to learn to read the bible.

We decided not to move to the southern colonies because there is no schooling for the
children unless you are extremely wealthy. We would also be working long strenuous hours on the farm. I enjoy living in the New England colonies and experiencing the four seasons even though the winters are extremely cold. We stay warm with furs that we trade with the Indians.

Hopefully all is well back in England. I missing my friends and family. I hope they decide to make the move.
